The Freeling family move in with Diane's mother in an effort to escape the trauma and aftermath of Carol Anne's abduction by the Beast. While living an an average family house in a pleasant neighborhood, the youngest daughter of the Freeling family, Carol Anne (Heather O'Rourke), seems to be connecting with the supernatural through a dead channel on the televison. It is not for long when the mysterious beings enter the house's walls. At first seeming like harmless ghosts, they play tricks and amuse the family, but they take a nasty turn- they horrify the family to death with angry trees and murderous dolls, and finally abduct Carol Anne into her bedroom closet, which seems like the entrance to the other side.

A new group TraDIng StanDarDs brough us a cam of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and it was instantly nuked for CBR audio, which isn’t that big of a problem for most of us. This was released in the theaters about 3 weeks ago so this is rather late, but the quality is better than what you would expect. This got great rating on both IMDB and RT, so this is one of those movie where you want to wait for better quality.

BeStDivX dishes out “The Golden Compass“, winner of the “Best Achievement in Visual Effects” Oscar this year (and nominee for “Best Achievement in Art Direction”). Needless to say, the visual effects here are stunning, and if you’re a fan of yummy CG, you will really appreciate the work put into this film. You can also watch it with your kids, as its a family movie rated PG-13. As for quality, it’s pretty average, unfortunately. Video bitrate is a decent 716k and audio is normal MP3. BeStDivX did not specify a runtime, but according to IMDB it’s 113 minutes. A film this long, filled with CG could have deserved a 2 CD release.
Synopsis: THE GOLDEN COMPASS is an adaptation of the first book in the beloved but controversial fantasy series by Phillip Pullman. The story opens with Lyra Belacqua (Dakota Blue Richards) an orphan girl who lives in an alternate world that is similar to earth, but where people’s souls exist outside of their bodies in animal form. The people are ruled by a shadowy and oppressive council known as the Magisterium, which is doing it’s best to keep everyone from getting information about what is called “Dust.” Lyra’s Uncle Asriel (Daniel Craig) has been researching Dust, and he has seen to it that Lyra is given safe shelter at Jordan College. |
